4. User Responsibilities

When using this website or engaging our services, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information when making enquiries or instructing us.
  • Notify us promptly of any changes to information you have provided.
  • Not use this website for any unlawful purpose or in any way that may harm, disrupt, or misrepresent us or third parties.
  • Not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of this website or its systems.
  • Not reproduce, copy, or distribute content from this website without our prior written consent.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, design, layout, and branding — is the intellectual property of Legasi Adil unless otherwise indicated. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use the website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, republish, or distribute any content without prior written permission. Nothing in this Agreement transfers any intellectual property rights to you.

6. Payment Terms

  • All fees are quoted and payable in Malaysian Ringgit (RM).
  • A fee estimate or fixed fee will be agreed in writing before any work commences. The fee structure applicable to your matter will be set out in the engagement letter.
  • Third-party costs — including court filing fees, stamp duties, and search fees — are separate from our professional fees and will be itemised and communicated before they are incurred.
  • Payment is due in accordance with the schedule set out in the engagement letter. We reserve the right to pause work on a matter where fees remain outstanding beyond the agreed terms.
  • Fees for consultations are generally payable at the time of or shortly after the meeting. For ongoing matters, billing is by milestone or as agreed.
  • Payments may be made by bank transfer or other methods agreed at the time of engagement.

7. Service Delivery

  • The scope of each engagement is defined in a separate engagement letter. Work outside that scope requires a written variation agreed by both parties.
  • Timelines for legal matters in Malaysia depend in part on court scheduling, government processing times, and third-party responses, which are outside our control. We will advise you of expected timelines and keep you informed of any material changes.
  • We will communicate progress at each material stage of your matter and will respond to reasonable enquiries within one working day.
  • The quality of advice we provide depends on the accuracy and completeness of information you give us. We cannot be responsible for outcomes arising from information that was incomplete or inaccurate.

8. Confidentiality

All information shared with Legasi Adil in the course of an engagement is treated as strictly confidential. We will not disclose client information to third parties except where required by law, by court order, or where you have given your consent. Our confidentiality obligations continue after the conclusion of an engagement. This section survives termination of the Agreement.

9. Disclaimers

  • The content on this website is provided for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. No solicitor–client relationship is formed by your use of this website alone.
  • While we exercise reasonable professional care, legal outcomes depend on facts, law, and circumstances that may change. We do not warrant that any particular outcome will be achieved.
  • This website is provided "as is". We do not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law:

  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with our services shall not exceed the total fees paid by you for the specific matter to which the claim relates.
  • We shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, special, or punitive loss or damage, including loss of profits or loss of opportunity, whether arising in contract, tort, or otherwise.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
  • Events beyond our reasonable control — including court closures, government delays, natural events, or acts of third parties — do not give rise to liability on our part.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Legasi Adil, its practitioners, and staff from and against any claims, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your breach of these Terms; (b) your use of this website in an unlawful or unauthorised manner; or (c) inaccurate or misleading information provided by you in the course of an engagement.

12. Termination

  • You may terminate an engagement at any time by written notice. You remain liable for fees in respect of work performed up to the date of termination.
  • We may cease acting for you if: you fail to provide accurate instructions; you fail to settle fees in accordance with the agreed terms; a conflict of interest arises; or we are required to do so under our professional obligations.
  • Upon termination, we will return your original documents and, subject to payment of outstanding fees, provide a handover summary to facilitate continuity of your matter.
  • Sections 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13 of these Terms survive termination.

13. Dispute Resolution

  • Governing law: These Terms and any engagement between us are governed by the laws of Malaysia.
  • Jurisdiction: Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
  • Informal resolution: In the event of a dispute, we encourage the parties to seek informal resolution in the first instance. Please write to [email protected] to raise any concern.
  • Bar Council: Complaints about the professional conduct of advocates and solicitors in Malaysia may be referred to the Disciplinary Board of the Malaysian Bar.

14. General Provisions

  • Entire agreement: These Terms, together with any engagement letter, constitute the entire agreement between us in relation to the subject matter hereof and supersede all prior discussions.
  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
  • Waiver: Failure to exercise any right under these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right.
  • Assignment: You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our obligations to a successor practice with notice to you.
  • Notices: Notices under these Terms should be sent by email to [email protected] or by post to our registered office address.
